The Oahu Company of Historical Swordsmanship (OCHS) was founded in 2022 by five friends who were passionate about the study and practice of Historical European Martial Arts (HEMA). The club was born from a shared love for the longsword and a desire to learn and fight with this elegant weapon.
Since then, OCHS has grown into a thriving community of students who are dedicated to exploring and reviving the martial arts of Europe. Our club is a friendly and open space where students are free to learn at their own pace and become a part of the growing international HEMA community.
OCHS teaches from both the Italian and German schools of swordsmanship, providing a well-rounded and tournament-friendly skill set for students. The goal is to give fighters the knowledge and skills they need to succeed in competitions and to provide a deep understanding of the art of sword fighting.
OCHS invites you to join them and discover the world of HEMA. Whether you are a beginner or an experienced martial artist, OCHS has something to offer. Come and visit them at the Hawaii Geek Meet, and become a part of a growing community of historical fencers.
We’re featuring organizations joining us for the first time for the Hawaii Geek Meet! Our 15th annual gathering is taking place on Sunday, Sept. 24, 2023 at Magic Island!
